The last but far from the least to round out our seniors is our Queen Ivey.  I think people started referring to Ivey as Queen FR year when she put in 2 goals against Va Tech in her college debut.  One of the many definitions of a Queen: “a woman who kicks a**, is smart, and does not let anyone bully her.” So there you have it in a nutshell.  Ivey is truly a once in a career player for any coach.  An inexplicable goal scoring freak of an athlete with unmatched mental fortitude and drive.  She was the focus of every opponent’s scouting report, but year after year, Ivey would rise to new levels and always find ways to put the ball in the net. Ivey is the definition of practice like you play as she only knows one gear when she’s on the field and that is put the ball in the net to help her team win. As a result, our Centerbacks have always been among the best in the conference largely due to the monumental task of defending Ivey every day in training

Her success was not just limited to soccer, as all of these special and rare gifts carry over into every part of Ivey’s life—she attacks everything with the same vengeance whether it’s the classroom, the weight room, or even the Easter Egg hunt!  There was never any time we had to figure out how to motivate Ivey, as her own internal motivation was certainly her best gift, and it pushed everyone else around her, even the coaches, to figure out how to raise our level to match it every single day.  Players that talented can often bring arrogance or seek special treatment, but Ivey brought humility and a quiet confidence to her commitment to put the team on her back. Those of us who know her best have no doubt she is destined for huge success in the business world. Love you, Ives 💚
