If your child is struggling with school refusal and isn’t at school today - I want you to know something.

I’ve sat in that silence too. The house that should be empty by 8:30 still full. 

The phone you’re dreading picking up. 
The mix of guilt and relief and exhaustion that nobody warned you about.

I spent years doing everything I was told. 
Following every piece of professional advice. 
Pushing harder when things got hard.

And the harder I pushed, the worse it got.
What I didn’t understand then - and what nobody told me - is that what my daughter was experiencing wasn’t a behaviour problem. 

It wasn’t defiance. 
It wasn’t manipulation.

Her nervous system was in alarm. 
And you cannot push, reward, or consequence an alarm into switching off.

You need a completely different plan.

After years of chronic school refusal, my daughter successfully graduated with entry into her first choice university and first choice degree.  Today she is happy and motivated.
