The full collection of my recent figurative paintings created for my first #mfa semester. All scanned and color corrected. Swipe 👉

I was exploring themes of what constitutes “finish” and further pulling from fish iconography to tell personal anecdotes from my life using masks. 

•

The last painting of the semester (s2nd one here) removes the masks and is my actual family, and even though I’m not in it, it’s painted from my point of view with my wife looking back at me as if I’m going to help her out if that situation. Unfortunately, I was taking reference at the time and could not help...

•

In regards to masks, the girl depicted in the first painting, “Choke” was a commentary on a toxic relationship I had many many years ago that taught me a lot. The faces in that series  have been changed to protect their identities. 😱
