I’ve been using @ampersand_art #Gessobord for all of my traditional media acrylic paintings for over ten years now. Once I found these painting surfaces I’ve never looked back at all the others I’ve tried prior to. I’ve been using @charvinarts from @jerrysartarama for a long time now and have had great results with it on these panels.

In college I always gessoed my own surfaces and built my own canvas, but I don’t have time for that anymore. Plus, people often like to frame original artwork and common sized surfaces make it easy for them do so.

When you’re creating a lot of paintings often, it’s important to know what to expect from each panel. The texture is not too rough, not too slick, so it has the right amount of tooth for your brushwork to effortlessly grab onto and feeling responsive. I’ve painted on hundreds of these and never found them to be bumpy or have uneven textures. Most importantly, the paint absorption allowed my colors stay consistently even and accurate to how they’re laid down. The paint settles into the surface, allowing for fast layering without any lost vibrant color.
