Scamming the police for $8k is CRAZY‼️😭*

What was supposed to be a fresh new look for Gatineau police has already been pulled less than a day after launch!

The Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) says it’s immediately pausing its rebrand and reverting back to its old logo after residents noticed the new bird graphic appeared to match imagery seen in an Adobe design post and branding used by a Florida-based company.

Police say the rebrand process had been in the works for the past 10 months alongside the City of Gatineau’s communications department, with staff voting on the final concept. 

According to SPVG, they were never made aware that a stock visual element may have been used in the design.

The service says further checks are being done to determine whether the image use complied with licensing terms, but for now the logo has officially been removed “in the interest of transparency.”

A spokesperson says the rollout cost approximately $8,000, covering a promo video, visuals, and two prototype vehicles, with no wider rollout costs since the transition was supposed to happen gradually over five years through normal vehicle and uniform replacements.
