“I enrolled at Pitt without really knowing if I could do college; it was a wing and a prayer for me. Having Zia when I started helped me gain the confidence to go out and try new things, because I knew that he was right there when I needed help,” says Emma Levick, our client who recently graduated from pittofficial. 

Now paired with her current #servicedog, Midas (Zia has retired and is now a therapy dog), they crossed the stage with pride to receive her history degree from the Kenneth P. Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences. 🎓 

Emma also has another accomplishment she's proud of: raising puppies for Canine Companions through step.pitt, so even more people can benefit from having #servicedogs, just like she has. 

In the last four years, she's volunteered over 400 hours and served in various roles with the club, including, most recently, as the president.

“I don’t think I would have made it through my freshman year or be in this position to graduate without my service dogs,” Emma says. “It’s a rewarding experience, giving back.” 💛

Emma is a strong advocate for the disability community and increased inclusion - and her activism exudes passion and inspires others to join her efforts.
