One of the biggest mistakes I see with blood testing is people preparing in ways that can completely skew their results… without realising it.

And honestly, most people are never properly told this beforehand.

Things like:
→ fasting too long
→ hard training the day before
→ dehydration
→ alcohol
→ supplements
→ sauna use

can all impact blood chemistry significantly.

For example:

fasting longer than around 10–12 hours can artificially elevate markers like serum iron and increase stress hormones.

Intense exercise before testing can temporarily increase:
→ liver enzymes
→ inflammation markers
→ glucose
→ white blood cells

Sauna use and dehydration can concentrate the blood and alter electrolytes, kidney markers, haematocrit, and more.

Even supplements can skew results:
biotin can interfere with thyroid testing, iron supplements can affect iron markers, etc.

This is why interpreting blood work properly isn’t just about the numbers.

It’s also about:
→ context
→ lifestyle
→ timing
→ symptoms
→ patterns

because the body is dynamic, not static.

If you’re doing blood work, save this for later so you actually get accurate results ✔️🩸

PS. And if you want your blood work analysed and properly interpreted through a functional, root-cause lens, check the link in bio for more information on my consultations ✨
