On this day in 1901, it all began. ⚽

On May 18, 1901, the Ontario Football Association League—now known as Ontario Soccer—was officially founded at the Walker House hotel in downtown Toronto.

The meeting brought together delegates from across the province and marked a pivotal moment in the growth of the beautiful game in Canada.

David Forsyth, later known as the “Father of Canadian Soccer,” was elected as the first secretary—laying the foundation for what would become one of the largest community sport organizations in the country.

While the Walker House no longer stands, its legacy lives on. Today, Ontario Soccer proudly represents over 500 clubs across the province.

As part of our 125 Years of Soccer in Ontario celebration, we honour the moment where it all began.
