Matthew Carver ‘26 was presented with an ROTC Scholarship and National Merit Scholarship Commended Students were among scores honored at our annual Senior Awards Ceremony in Scaccia Auditorium Tuesday morning.

Captain Erin Morris, an assistant professor of military science in the ROTC program at Canisius University, presented the prestigious ROTC scholarship to Carver, who will attend Villanova University. The scholarship covers three years of tuition.

Students earning awards and school-wide recognition for a wide range of activities and achievements were honored before their parents and schoolmates. The event began with a prayer by Gianni Latella ’26 and concluded with Nicholas Scime ‘26 being named Mr. Canisius 2026.

The National Merit Scholarship Program names National Merit Scholarship Commended Students for those whose performance is among the 34,000 which are among the top 3% of PSAT test takers. Aidan Billman, Ethan Fronczak, Broderick Murray, Michael Riad, Nicholas Scime, Austin Xiao were honored for being named Commended Students. 

Our cohort of the Ignatian Global Scholars Program was recognized while Magis awards honored those in different academic departments. The Student-Athlete of the Year Award was presented to hockey and baseball Monsignor Martin champion David Barczak while the 2026 Tyrpak Cup was presented to CHS House champions Loyola House, represented by Head of House Courtnie Wojda, Prefect Elliott DeRose and Assistant Prefect Evan Mitskovski.
