"Ms. Tyrpak-Endres has always been an enormous influence on the person I am, not only in the ways she taught me, but also in the way she made me and my classmates feel." 

The six 2026 Mr. Canisius finalists all had their photo taken with a faculty member of their choice during the seniors' final week of school.

Here is why Matthew Carver ’26 chose religious studies teacher Andrea Tyrpak-Endres:

"At morning Mass, Ms. Tyrpak-Endres greeted everyone with a smile and would always stay after to talk before the day started. She had a way of making class something you looked forward to, while still challenging us to think critically about everything we covered.

"Having her as a teacher throughout my years at Canisius High School is something I will always be grateful for, and her influence is something I will carry with me long after these halls."

Tyrpak-Endres' thoughts on Carver: 

"Matthew Carver is a fine and diligent student and a dedicated athlete. He works hard in all his pursuits. But beyond this, Matthew is a good man.

“Matthew’s thoughtful kindness and empathy have been tremendous gifts to me personally in a time of great need and loss in my life over the past year. My seriously ill husband and I relied on him for so many basic needs. How blessed we both were to witness his heart in action. I can testify that he knows and shows the true meaning of service to those in need."

Here is an excerpt from the Mr. Canisius reflection by Carver, who is from Amherst, attended St. Mary’s School Swormville and is headed to Villanova University:

"There was always a sense of love and family that made the experience behind the Blue Doors more meaningful than I could have ever expected. I am truly thankful to have walked these hallways with so many amazing people."
