"Today, May 14th, we pause as a school community to remember the lives lost four years ago in the racist attack at Tops on Jefferson Avenue – a tragedy that deeply wounded Buffalo and changed our community forever.”

We remembered the victims of the racist mass shooting in Buffalo on May 14, 2022 in our morning prayer by Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Chuck Frederico, S.J., and during today’s Ascension Thursday Mass in Scaccia Auditorium, where Assistant to the President Fr. Richard Zanoni, S.J., spoke to our community about it in his homily. 

Fr. Frederico’s prayer continued:

We remember those who were killed, the families who continue to grieve, and all who still carry the pain of that day.

Loving God, 
welcome into Your peace those who died, especially our brothers and sisters targeted by hatred and racism. Comfort all who mourn, strengthen our community, and help us reject hatred, injustice, and indifference in all forms.
Teach us to recognize the dignity of every person and to live with compassion, courage, justice, and love. Amen.

Fr. Zanoni’s Feast of the Ascension homily has been posted as a reel. 

The CHS Black Student Union is sponsoring a raffle through Monday that will benefit the Western New York for Hope Diaper & Hygiene Drive. Members of the CHS faculty are also collecting feminine products and other hygiene products, as well as diapers, for the drive.
