This holiday season, seeing mistletoe may be a welcome sight if a loved one is near. Although, it can be an unwelcome intruder when found in your trees.

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Horticulturist Allison Watkins shared how the romantic holiday symbol is a semi-parasitic plant. Mistletoe causes tree stress and can make a tree more susceptible to diseases and insects.

The only way to eliminate mistletoe from a tree is to prune the branch it is on. You can read more about the Christmas plant and whether it is friend or foe at tx.ag/MistletoeFacts, or by visiting the #AgriLifeToday link in our bio.
