“We are all service-minded and just want to help people,” said Bryan Davis, a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Disaster Assessment and Recovery agent.

Davis helps lead the DAR unit as part of the Texas A&M University System's Keeping Texas Prepared Initiative. Led by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, DAR works in response to Texas’ needs during natural disasters and pandemics, including COVID-19.

Davis's missions have been broad and diverse when it comes to helping keep Texans safe. He helped at the Bastrop wildfires in 2015, when the Brazos River exceeded its banks in 2016 and caused severe flooding, assisted the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Team in response to wildfires in 2018, and when medical supplies needed to be delivered during the onset of COVID-19 in 2020, he was there.

With a heart for assisting people and animals in their greatest time of need, Davis said the experiences have been rewarding and fulfilled a passion for him. He recognized the impact AgriLife Extension and DAR have in saving lives.
