## Caption

After a tornado destroyed the original traditional grass house sitting on the caddo_mounds_shs, researchers and horticulturists came together to rebuild.

Kay O'Neal, thecaddonation tribal council member and liaison to the Caddo Mounds State Historic site, led a team in constructing the grass house on the land where generations of her ancestors lived and died. Although a lack of available switchgrass held up construction of the grass house, a solution was found with the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Overton. The center contributed their evaluation plots of switchgrass to the project so that the traditional grass house could be completed.
