## Caption

An emergency order to restrict #deer movement across Texas has been enacted by texasparkswildlife and the txahc. This comes after recent detection of chronic wasting disease, CWD, at deer breeding facilities. 

CWD is a progressive neurological disease that affects several cervid species, and while slow developing, the list of clinical signs an infected animal presents may appear as though the animal is "wasting away."

#TVMDL is the only laboratory approved to test for CWD in Texas. The assistant agency director and txextension veterinarian highlights how CWD is a concern for anyone managing Texas deer resources.
