MUSICAL MONDAYS // It’s #MusicalMonday with the Boston Ballet Orchestra, featuring trombonist Naomi Wharry. Originally from Idabel, Oklahoma, she started performing when she was 5 years old (she’s always loved singing) but started trombone at 10. 

🎵 Where did you start learning music: Middle school band in Idabel with my band directors (and trombonists!) Danny and Teresa Bell 
🎼 Favorite piece of music to perform: I recently played Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story and had so much fun! 
♥️ Favorite composers: Felix Mendelssohn, Esperanza Spalding, or Maurice Ravel 
🦢 Favorite ballet score: Swan Lake 
📍 Superpower wish: Teleportation! 
✈️ Best place ever traveled to: Lisbon, Portugal 
🍹 Guilty pleasure: Cocktails at brunch! 
🍿Favorite Dance Movie: A Star Is Born (Lady Gaga’s version) 
🍦Favorite mid-day snack: Ice cream! 
🤫 Secret skill: I can play a little bit of bansuri 
☀️️ Can’t live without: A beautiful outdoor area to do yoga or walk in 
🎬 Who would you want to play YOU in a movie: Gabrielle Union 
6️⃣ You can ask six famous people to dinner: Esperanza Spalding, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Dolly Parton, Donald Glover, and Billy Porter 
🎶 Music is: a form of expression and healing that translates and transforms all of the nuances of the human experience to the ear (and eyes!) 
🪄What inspired you to perform: I grew up watching Hannah Montana and had a lot of talented siblings. I always wanted to be as cool as my older sisters and to be a rockstar! As I got older, I continued to be inspired by various performers, so that love for performance never went away! 
✨ Best advice you have for aspiring musicians: Your best teacher is discovering what you value in art, music, and life. Listen to what they tell you about the artist you wish to be.
