I can't believe it's already been a year since our trip to Lafayette. This city is definitely a hidden gem and one that is not talked about enough. If you’re planning a trip to Lafayette, here’s what you should know before you go: 🍽️ Come hungry. Lafayette is a serious food city, so make room for gumbo, boudin, crawfish, po’boys, beignets, and all the Cajun + Creole flavors. 🚗 Rent a car. A lot of the best spots are spread out, especially if you want to visit New Iberia, Avery Island, the Tabasco Factory, or Jungle Gardens. 🎶 Don’t skip the live music. Lafayette is known for Zydeco, Cajun music, dancing, and fun local venues that make the city feel so alive at night. 🌿 Add Avery Island to your itinerary. The Tabasco Factory Tour and Jungle Gardens were such unique stops and totally worth the short drive. 🏡 Stay near Downtown Lafayette if you want restaurants, bars, and local events nearby. If you want something quieter and spacious, look a little outside downtown. 📅 Spring and fall are the best times to visit. We went in April and the weather was warm, comfortable, and perfect for exploring. 🛍️ Plan around Sundays. Some restaurants and shops may be closed, so try to fly in Thursday night or Friday morning to make the most of the weekend. 📸 Save time for Downtown Lafayette, Cypress Lake, Rip Van Winkle Gardens, and New Iberia if you want cute photo spots.
