Kay (Barker) Kingsbury '55 met Chuck Kingsbury '56 during Kay's first weekend as a Bryant student in 1954, beginning a love story that spanned decades of romance, family, and celebration. After another great year with plenty of amazing submissions, we're happy to announce that the Kingsburys are the 2026 Bryant Alumni Love Stories contest winners!

As Kay tells it, she was walking on campus in September 1954 when Chuck approached and took her beanie - donned by Bryant freshmen at the time - off her head. Chuck agreed to return it to her Sunday, if she attended church with him. Their relationship blossomed throughout the year, enjoying college dances, meals at Little Brown Jug, and performing in Mrs. Appleby's production of Oklahoma!

The happy couple would tie the knot at Trinity Church in Newport on December 28, 1956. Their family would grow over the next decade, as Kay and Chuck welcomed their children Janet, Linda, Nancy, and Chuck Jr. into the world. The @bryantuniversity legacy grew, too, as Chuck Jr. graduated from the institution in 1988, and their grandson Andrew crossed the stage in 2010.

Kay and Chuck stayed as dedicated to Bryant after graduation as they did during their time on campus. Kay was in Alpha Phi Kappa and Chuck was a member of Kappa Tau, which Kay said created lifelong friendships for them both. Since then, they have attended numerous reunions and coordinated alumni meetings in Worcester, Massachusetts. They've even taken a couple of Bryant Alumni Travel Program trips over the years.

On December 28 of this year, Kay and Chuck will celebrate 70 years of marriage alongside their family in Newport. Trinity Church will even be lit in honor of their 1956 nuptials.

"A lifetime of memories with our grandparents, parents, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends makes us appreciate how fortunate we are to share our love for each other and our family members through the years," Kay said.

Congratulations to the Kingsburys!
