## Caption

During one of the darkest periods of my marriage some lessons became inescapable in order to heal. During that season, I had become fixated on all the ways we were not compatible.

I analyzed our differences endlessly.
Our communication styles.
Our emotional needs.
Our wounds.
Our astrology.
Our patterns.

And beneath all of it was a painful truth:
I did not yet understand how to tend to the soil of a relationship.

I was either tending to my own needs from a place of frustration and resentment… or tending to hers from a place of martyrdom.

Neither creates safety.
Both quietly poison the ecosystem. Because resentment changes the emotional pH of a relationship.
And over time, even love struggles to grow in acidic soil.

What I see now that the school of life is teaching me, is that relational safety is not born through self-sacrifice or self-protection alone. It emerges when both people can witness each other genuinely tending to the shared field between them.

Not abandoning themselves.
Not abandoning each other.

But caring for the “we” with devotion.

The nervous system softens when love no longer feels transactional.
When care is no longer leveraged.
When both people feel the relationship itself is being protected.

This Taurus New Moon has been making me reflect on how often we ask:
“Are we compatible?”

when perhaps a more meaningful question is:

“What conditions help love become sustainable between us?”

Every relationship has its own ecology.
