Emily Henry is finally addressing the backlash over the casting of the upcoming “Beach Read” movie adaptation 👀

Last month, Phoebe Dynevor and Patrick Schwarzenegger were officially cast as fan-favourite couple January Andrews and Gus Everett. While many readers were on board with Phoebe as January, some fans weren’t convinced Patrick matched the “Gus” energy they imagined from the book.

After staying quiet on the casting discourse, Henry shared her thoughts during an appearance on the Today Show.

“I also have to sit back and let it unfold,” she said. “It is our baby — the readers’ and my baby — but it’s also the filmmakers’ baby and the studio’s baby.”

Henry also said she has “a lot of faith” in writer-director Yulin Kuang, who also adapted the screenplay for the film.
