Congratulations to our 2026 Alberta Milk Scholarship Winner, Emma Hansen!

From Bert Church High School in Airdrie, Emma is a distinguished athlete who has captained the Chargers in Soccer and Basketball the last two years. Her dedicated leadership was put on display as the BCHS Soccer MVP led the girls team to an undefeated regular season this year. When speaking on her own passions, Emma cites a balance between competition and enjoyment as a key for her.

“What I enjoy most about sports is the balance between competition and enjoyment.
Setting goals and working hard to achieve them gives me a strong sense of purpose.
Whether I am striving to improve my personal performance or contribute to a team’s
success, the feeling of accomplishment is incredibly rewarding.”

Emma’s coach reflects on her approach to life on and off the field as a strong representation of School Sport Alberta's commitment to competition and sportsmanship:

 “Her leadership is not defined by titles alone but by her actions. She models work ethic, resilience, and respect while consistently encouraging her teammates to strive for excellence.. Emma is capable of delivering a message with a strong and firm approach while recognizing when some levity in a message is required. All this evolved from a quiet, albeit composed and competitive, grade 9 athlete. Whether in competition or practice, Emma elevates those around her and contributes positively to team culture and performance.”
