## Caption

Astronomers observed the young star system PDS 70, located about 370 light years from Earth, where a massive planet called PDS 70c is still forming. Around it lies a circumplanetary disk made of gas and dust, the material that may eventually form moons. The discovery gave scientists one of the clearest direct views of moon formation happening around another world.
