Yesterday, Temple Sheriff Station deputies ran leg 4 and 5 of the annual LASD Memorial Torch Relay Run alongside officers from San Gabriel Police Department and El Monte Police Department.

Established in 1975, the LASD Memorial Torch Relay Run honors the deputies and peace officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Over the course of three days and more than 300 miles, runners carry the ceremonial Memorial Torch through Sheriff’s stations, custody facilities, and specialized units across Los Angeles County before it is used to light the ceremonial flame at the annual Los Angeles County Peace Officers’ Memorial ceremony.

The relay serves as a tribute to the fallen and a reminder that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. It also stands as a show of support for the families of those who gave their lives protecting our communities.

Temple Station is proud to stand alongside our law enforcement partners in honoring the memories of these heroes.
