A man controlled by his urges becomes no different than an animal chasing instinct without thought, discipline, or self-respect. Lust has a way of distorting reality. It can make a man ignore red flags, betray his values, destroy his future, and consume things that poison his mind and soul — all because in the moment, his cravings convince him it feels good.

That’s the danger of being ruled by impulse. When a man loses control of himself, he’ll justify almost anything to feed his hunger. He’ll mistake addiction for pleasure, weakness for freedom, and self-destruction for satisfaction. Like an animal eating filth because it smells appealing for a moment, he stops asking whether what he consumes is actually good for him.

Discipline is what separates a man from his impulses. The ability to say no to yourself is power. Because if your urges control your mind, then your life will always be controlled by whatever temptation appears in front of you.
