Roomies, the California Black Women’s Collective PAC has officially endorsed #TomSteyer for Governor of California, and they’re explaining exactly why. According to the PAC, their 2026 endorsement process started by sending every candidate a research briefing on the realities facing Black women in California: the wage gap, the maternal mortality crisis, housing instability, and business ownership. They wanted to see who actually did the reading.
The PAC says Steyer engaged the data directly, speaking specifically to the economic vulnerability of Black women and the systemic gaps affecting Black girls in schools, healthcare, and mental health systems. But they emphasized the endorsement was built on his record, not just the interview. They pointed to Beneficial State Bank, the community development bank he co-founded in 2007 that directs the majority of its lending to low-to-moderate income communities, as well as NextGen America, his voter engagement organization that has registered more than 1.6 million young voters with a focus on Black and Latino youth.
The PAC also highlighted his commitment to reparations for the descendants of enslaved Black people in California, a position he took during his 2020 presidential run, along with his proposed $125 billion investment in HBCUs and his work on student debt and environmental justice. *The author was paid by Steyer for Governor 2026 #1485077 in connection with this posting*
Roomies, what do y’all think of this endorsement? Sound off in the comments.
