#TSRPolitics: The U.S. government has agreed to permanently drop certain tax-related claims against President #DonaldTrump as part of a settlement tied to his $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS over the leak of his tax returns.

According to a newly released Justice Department document, the government is barred from further examining or prosecuting Trump, his sons, and the Trump Organization in connection to their current tax audits. The agreement also limits investigations involving Trump’s family and affiliates.

The Justice Department clarified that the settlement only applies to existing audits, not future examinations.

The move comes after the Trump administration also announced a nearly $1.8 billion fund aimed at compensating allies who claim they were unfairly investigated or prosecuted drawing criticism from Democrats and government watchdog groups.
