It was an honour to address the high-level reception in 🇺🇸 New York hosted by H.E. Ambassador Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani and the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations during the event “From FIFA World Cup 2022 to FIFA World Cup 2026: A Legacy in Motion”. 🇶🇦⚽🌍

Nearly four years on, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 remains the greatest tournament we have ever seen, with a festive atmosphere that united people from all over the world through joy, passion and shared experiences. Qatar welcomed the world in an extraordinary way, and the tournament showed once again that when people come together, there are far more things that unite us than divide us. My thanks to H.E. Hassan Al-Thawadi and everyone in Qatar for helping deliver such a special fifaworldcup. 🤝

As we now look ahead to the FIFA World Cup 2026 🇨🇦🇲🇽🇺🇸, football will once again bring happiness, emotion and hope to millions across the globe. With 48 teams, 104 matches and millions of fans coming together across Canada, Mexico and the United States, the world will unite once more through our beautiful game. 👏
