There was a special meet-and-greet in Rockland County as the sheriff’s department introduced their newest K-9 member, named for a fallen Spring Valley volunteer firefighter. 

Labrador Lloyd is now officially on duty. It was the sheriff’s idea to name the new addition to the K-Unit after Lt. Jared Lloyd, a volunteer Spring Valley firefighter who died trying to save elderly residents from the Evergreen adult home inferno five years ago. 

And Lloyd's expertise is especially meaningful.
