Many people are expected to spend Memorial Day weekend on the water, but with rain in the forecast, officials are urging boaters to make safety a priority.

"The lakes are going to be packed, and the waterways are going to be packed," said Nicholas Ray, deputy chief of North Spartanburg Fire District.

Before the fun can begin, fire officials reminded residents to be prepared.
