New details are continuing to emerge after Flagstaff police arrested 31-year-old Ochra Manakaja earlier this week in a case that has shocked people across Arizona.

According to court documents, officers responded to a hotel in Flagstaff after Manakaja allegedly called 911 Sunday morning and made a disturbing statement before hanging up.

Investigators say officers later found her 15-month-old son unresponsive inside the room.

Court records state Manakaja told investigators the child had become sick several days earlier, but medical help was never requested.

The case is also raising questions after records showed the child had previously been removed from unsafe conditions shortly after birth before custody was later transferred through tribal jurisdiction.

Manakaja is currently facing multiple felony charges including first-degree murder, child abuse and concealment of a body.

The investigation remains ongoing.
