She can feel her babies beside her. She can hear them cry. But she cannot turn around to reach them. 🐷

This is life in a farrowing crate,  a metal cage barely bigger than her own body, where a mother pig is imprisoned for up to 5 weeks at a time, multiple times a year.

She arrived pregnant, following her deepest instinct to build a nest for her newborns. Instead, she was locked inside a metal frame. She cannot turn. She cannot nuzzle. She cannot mother.

Scientists now link these conditions to PTSD, chronic stress, and psychological breakdown in pigs, animals as emotionally complex as dogs.

Around 60% of UK sows spend nearly a quarter of their entire adult lives in these crates. 

Nearly 75% of vets say they are concerned about the welfare damage caused. And yet it continues.

This isn't farming. This is machinery wearing the skin of a living being.

She is not a unit. She is a mother. And she deserves better.
