For too long, where you live in Jamaica has determined what you have access to. A student in a rural community without reliable internet is not competing on the same playing field as one in Kingston. A small business owner without fast, affordable connectivity cannot reach the same markets.

At the 2026 Sectoral Debate, Minister of Efficiency, Innovation & Digital Transformation, Ambassador the Hon. Audrey Marks, MP, announced two transformative investments that directly address that gap.

The National Broadband Network will connect up to 2,768 government locations — including schools — and bring high-speed internet to approximately 490,000 homes, including 140,000 in underserved communities.

And Jamaica has now signed for a new Trans Americas Subsea Cable that will increase the country’s internet bandwidth to up to 20 terabits per second — dramatically expanding speed and capacity for every Jamaican.

The infrastructure for a digital Jamaica is being built. Right now.
