Law Graduate Spotlight 🎓: Joshua Gandarilla

Joshua is a first-generation American and college graduate from Phoenix, AZ, and Sunland Park, NM. In his experience, what makes UO law special is how the professors make themselves available to help students better grasp the material discussed in class or to just chat and get to know the students.

"A moment that made me feel at home while at UO Law was during the 2022 Eugene Marathon," Joshua said. "After 'hitting the wall' around mile 22 of the race, my body and mind were telling me to quit, that the rewards I sought weren’t worth the pain. I’ll never forget my classmates and others from the Eugene community who were out there cheering people on, wishing for your success and knowing you could obtain it. Their cheers got me through the pain, and I understood why 'Tracktown USA' holds a special place in so many people’s hearts." 

After graduation, Joshua will be a water rights litigator in the Southwest and play a small role in attempting to solve the ongoing American water crisis along the Colorado River.
