U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie meant to give a concession speech after losing the Republican primary to Trump-backed Republican Ed Gallrein.

Instead, his supporters made it a Massie rally. They chanted "2028! 2028!" and "Massie for president!" as he spoke to the crowd at the Cincinnati Airport Marriott in Hebron, Kentucky on May 19.

"I thought I would be delivering a concession speech – a defeat speech," he told The Enquirer in his first interview after his loss. "But about three minutes into it, I realized they weren't going to accept that so I had to give them a good speech about what we stand for."
