Rather than shaping the scene with artificial light, Paddy Dowling works with what is already there. In the mill, fine chilli and spice dust diffuses the sunlight entering through large windows, softening shadows and creating a layered, almost painterly effect.⁣
Inspired by Dutch and Italian painting, he focuses on how light reveals form, texture and presence. The result is a visual language that feels both controlled and organic, where nothing is added, but everything is observed.⁣
