## Caption

The PDT rule forced a generation of retail traders into futures. That changes on June 4th. But that does not mean you should switch back.

Futures still have three structural advantages that have nothing to do with the PDT rule: Section 1256 tax treatment that saves active traders thousands of dollars per year, no wash sale rules, and 23.5-hour access to global macro events before the equity market even opens. For premium sellers focused on individual stocks, the calculus flips. The playing field just got bigger and the PDT constraint is no longer in the way. The real question is which product fits your actual strategy, not which one the rules forced you into.
