An explosion at Hungarian oil and gas group MOL's petrochemical plant in Tiszaujvaros, eastern Hungary, has killed one person and injured several others, the company said in a statement on Friday.⁣

The chairman of MOL Zsolt Hernadi said a pipeline at the plant had exploded during maintenance and there was no indication of external influence.⁣
⁣
Hernadi said there had been no release of pollution which would affect the human population.⁣
⁣
He added that there would be an investigation into any human error leading to the blast.⁣
