Imagine calling D. L. Hughley on a Saturday and he shows up on a Sunday for Artscape. 

What an unexpected moment of profound impact — and truly a career highlight for me — to moderate a conversation on the intersection of art and politics alongside mayorbmscott and realdlhughley  Two voices whose perspectives on American culture are not only shaping the conversation, but helping define the future of authentic Black expression, advocacy, and influence in this country.

This moment elevated our Artscape “In Conversation” series in a major way and represented a true level up for Artscape itself — reinforcing that the nation’s largest free outdoor arts festival can also be a space for urgent, thoughtful, culture-shifting dialogue.

In a time when so much is at stake, the ability for artists, leaders, and truth-tellers to speak boldly and unapologetically matters more than ever. Grateful for the opportunity to participate in a dialogue that was honest, powerful, necessary — and deeply rooted in the responsibility we all carry to use our voices with purpose.
