Why do most freedivers hit a wall at 30–40 m? 🌊

At this depth, diving changes completely.

The problem is usually not courage or motivation.
It’s physiology, technique and nervous system adaptation.

1️⃣ Residual Volume
Around 30–40 m, the lungs become heavily compressed and approach residual volume.

This often creates:
• chest tightness
• stress
• difficult equalization
• early turn reflex

✅ Solution:
Progressive adaptation.
Work on flexibility, relaxation and slow exposure to depth instead of forcing performance.

2️⃣ Fighting contractions
Most divers panic when contractions begin.

They tense:
• shoulders
• jaw
• kicks
• breathing reflex

Which increases oxygen consumption even more.

✅ Solution:
Learn to relax through contractions.
Move slower, reduce unnecessary tension and improve efficiency underwater.

3️⃣ Bad hydrodynamics
At depth, small technique mistakes become expensive.

Wide kicks, bent knees and tension waste huge amounts of oxygen.

Become more streamlined.
