Humans can dive by nature it’s one of our hidden survival skills. 🌊

The moment you enter the water, your body activates the Mammalian Dive Reflex an automatic survival mechanism designed to conserve oxygen underwater.

🫀 Bradycardia
Your heart rate slows down by 40–50% to reduce oxygen consumption.

🩸 Blood Shift
Blood moves toward the chest and lungs to protect them from pressure at depth.

🫁 Lung Protection
Blood fills the vessels around the alveoli, helping the lungs resist compression.

🧬 Spleen Contraction
The spleen contracts and releases extra red blood cells, increasing oxygen transport.

🦵 Vasoconstriction
Blood vessels constrict in the arms and legs to prioritize oxygen for the brain and vital organs.

🚰 Immersion Diuresis
Because of the blood shift, the body thinks it has too much fluid and starts removing water — which is why you suddenly need to pee in the water.

🧠 Mental Adaptation
With training, the brain learns to relax under high CO₂ and low oxygen conditions instead of panicking.

Freediving is not about becoming superhuman.
It’s about unlocking abilities already built into the human body.#freediving #apnea #freediver #science #diving
