We’ve spent over 6 months on this incredible island and visited 4 times!

In this series, we’ve been sharing exactly how we’d recommend spending 1 week in Madeira – especially if it’s your first time visiting 🫶🏼

Here’s how we suggest spending your final day in Madeira:

☕ Morning: Coffee in Santa Cruz

Start your day with a coffee at Doce Satisfação (doce_satisfacao), a local coffee & pastry shop in Santa Cruz. This is between Funchal and the trailhead so it’s a perfect little stop!

🥾 Morning: Hike Vereda do Larano

This stunning coastal trail along the cliffs between Machico and Porto da Cruz is one of our favourite hikes in Madeira! The coastal views are unreal (🌊

One-way: Start in Machico, end in Porto da Cruz, then take a taxi or Bolt back to your car 🚕

Return: Start in Machico, hike to the cliffs, then turn around and head back 🚗

🍷 Afternoon: Madeiran wine tasting

After your hike, head to Funchal for a relaxed wine tasting at Pereira D’Oliveira or Blandy’s Wine Lodge– it’s an easy way to try some of the famous Madeira Wine.

🥘 Evening: Traditional meal in Funchal

End your final day with a traditional Madeiran dinner in Funchal’s Old Town:
• Tas’ca Principal
• O Portão (o_portao)
• Restaurante do Forte (restaurantedoforte)

🌅 Optional: Sunset swim

Finish the evening by soaking up one last sunset by the ocean. Maybe even go for a quick swim if you’re feeling brave! 🌊
