Following an unexpected arrival at the Temple of the Solar Cycle, Thalen Arq and the ship’s de facto captain, Elari Syn, continue their increasingly questionable efforts to secure a Prime Pass for the upcoming festival. Truthfully, Thalen, being more invested in Vidyan history, appears considerably more invested in the matter than the rest of the crew, whose enthusiasm ranges somewhere between mild curiosity and active regret.

Upon hearing an entirely disproportionate amount of boasting from fellow synthetic Syven regarding their understanding of “historic human social rituals”, Thalen recruits the ship’s science officer in an improvised attempt to impress the temple priests, otherwise known as Cals.

Syven confidently proposes what they describe as an ancient Earth ceremonial movement system known as Disco. They present the idea with such complete and unshakable certainty that nobody immediately questions them, which later proves to be a mistake.

Things may not unfold in quite the way Thalen had hoped.

A number of temple officials would later dispute whether Disco had ever possessed ceremonial value at all. Syven continued to insist that it absolutely had and is planning an event on the ship in protest.
