🎾 Naomi Osaka and Taylor Townsend hosted a dinner for Black tennis players at the French Open — and somehow, people found a problem with it.

The "Black Party (Roland Garros Edition)" brought together Coco Gauff, Gaël Monfils, and other Black players for a night of community in a sport that has long been isolating for those who don't fit the traditional mold.

Townsend said it plainly: "It's important for us to come together because this sport is naturally very isolating and selfish." 

When critics came for Naomi online, she responded without apology.

"Growing up as a tennis player I didn't see many people that looked like ME and I feel like it's important to celebrate them. What is it about POC getting together that unsettles you so much?" 

Two Black women used their platform to build community. That's not controversial. That's leadership. 🙌
