✊🏾 Waffle House workers in Atlanta are standing up — and their demands deserve our attention.

Workers rallied alongside the Union of Southern Service Workers outside a downtown Atlanta location, demanding real change from one of the South's most iconic — and profitable — restaurant chains.

What they're asking for:
→ A $25 hourly wage
→ An end to automatic meal deductions taken directly from paychecks
→ 24/7 security at all locations — because women workers in particular say they feel unsafe serving customers who come in intoxicated and harassing staff

"The conditions that Waffle House workers are under are deplorable and horrible," said Billy, a server and grill operator of nearly two years.

"People don't always tip and even when they do, we don't get all of our tips — they go on our paychecks, they're taxed," employee Katie Giede added.

This rally happened less than a mile from Mercedes-Benz Stadium — just one month before Atlanta hosts the FIFA World Cup. The same city that will welcome the world is asking its lowest-paid workers to show up in dangerous conditions for poverty wages.
