## Caption

I didn’t know American avocets existed until recently, but they’re quickly becoming a favorite. Legs for days, beak for days, and their head changes color based on the season. Nature is so cool.

Fun fact: Female American avocets usually have a slightly more upturned beak than males. Based on that, I think these are males, but I’m not really sure.
