Looks like the “sorry, I was on a flight” excuse is about to disappear 😭✈️

Korean Air (koreanair) and Asiana Airlines (flyasiana) are reportedly preparing to introduce SpaceX (spacex)’s Starlink high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi starting as early as July 👀

The service will first roll out on long-haul aircraft mainly used for U.S. and Europe routes — including Boeing 777-300ERs and Airbus A350-900s 🔥

And we’re not talking about weak airplane Wi-Fi anymore either. Starlink Aviation can reportedly reach speeds up to 500Mbps, making streaming, gaming, shopping, messaging, video calls, cloud work, and even large file transfers possible in the sky 🤯

Once fully introduced, the same ultra-fast Wi-Fi is expected to be available across all seat classes — from Economy all the way to First Class ✨

Hanjin Group also plans to complete Starlink installation across all five affiliated airlines by the end of 2027, around the same time Korean Air and Asiana’s integration — along with the merger of low-cost carriers Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul — is expected to wrap up 👀

That means Korea’s future mega airline group could eventually operate under one standardized in-flight internet system ✈️

One thing still undecided though? Whether the Wi-Fi will be completely free for everyone 😭

대한항공 (koreanair)과 아시아나항공 (flyasiana)이 빠르면 오는 7월부터 SpaceX (spacex)의 스타링크(Starlink) 기반 초고속 기내 와이파이 서비스를 도입할 예정이라고 하는데요 👀

우선 미국·유럽 장거리 노선에 주로 투입되는 보잉 777-300ER과 에어버스 A350-900 기종부터 순차 적용될 예정입니다 🔥

스타링크 항공 서비스는 최대 500Mbps 속도를 지원해 OTT 스트리밍, 온라인 게임, 쇼핑, 메신저, 화상회의는 물론 대용량 파일 전송과 클라우드 기반 협업까지 가능하다고 해요.

게다가 도입이 완료되면 이코노미부터 퍼스트 클래스까지 모든 좌석 등급에서 동일한 초고속 와이파이를 사용할 수 있을 전망입니다 ✨

한진그룹은 오는 2027년 말까지 그룹 산하 5개 항공사 전체에 스타링크 도입을 완료할 계획인데요. 이는 대한항공·아시아나 통합, 그리고 진에어·에어부산·에어서울 통합 LCC 출범 시기와도 맞물려 있습니다 👀

한국의 새로운 메가 항공사 체제가 하나의 통합 기내 인터넷 시스템으로 운영될 가능성이 커진 셈이죠 ✈️

다만 한 가지 아직 확정되지 않은 부분도 있습니다 😭 바로 이 초고속 와이파이를 전면 무료로 제공할지 여부인데요. 한진그룹은 현재 요금 정책을 검토 중이라고 밝혔습니다.
