#TSRPolitics: Late last year, #DonaldTrump’s name was added to the outside of the #KennedyCenter after the board voted on the name change. Now, a federal judge has ruled that the action was illegal and ordered Trump’s name to be removed.

According to apnews, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper made the ruling on Friday. Judge Cooper also ruled that the board’s vote to close the venue for renovations was “ill-informed and seemingly preordained” with no regard for its legal obligations. Renovations were set to begin in July, leaving the center closed for two years.

Judge Cooper said, “The trustees might have assessed the propriety of closure in a number of prudent ways. This was not one.” He also said the board  “overstepped its statutory bounds” when adding Trump’s name to the building, and ordered his name be removed.

Cooper added, “May the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts be renamed absent Congressional authorization? The answer, plain from the face of the statute, is no. Nor can any other individual be memorialized on the front portico of the building.”
