#TheWrapMagazine: Before #BillLawrence became one of TV’s defining showrunners, he thought he’d be a stand-up comic. Instead, he found his voice creating shows that balance broad comedy with emotional depth and characters audiences can’t help but root for.

Later, when TheWrap's stevepond31 shared the cast’s “no assholes” rule for a Bill Lawrence set, he immediately agreed. 

“It’s taken me a long time to understand what it means to have a voice,” he said. "I’m a writer who fell in love with shows that are joke-forward, and sometimes even broad, silly comedy, but with moments of emotional depth. And you’re hopefully emotionally invested in the characters.”
