A massive plume of dark smoke rising from a fire in a southwest suburb of Chicago could be seen from I-55 on Wednesday evening, video showed.

Around 6:15 p.m., large flames and smoke could be seen rising from a fire near the 6100 block of West Pershing Road in Stickney, video showed.

The smoke could be seen for miles and was captured on a camera on I-55 near Central Avenue.

Authorities did not immediately respond to NBC Chicago's inquiries about the fire.
