Cases of a rare, but dangerous, condition have been reported in Illinois amid an increase in ticks. While tick bites are often associated with Lyme disease, they can also lead to a less commonly known condition called Alpha-gal syndrome. The Illinois Department of Public Health recently highlighted AGS, a condition that sometimes occurs after tick bites, which can cause severe and potentially life-threatening reactions to red meat and other foods.
